Third day in Surin Island : The Moken Village

Our third day in Surin islands, it was our last day on the paradise place. We would not spend water activities like first day and second day on our last day due to we had to catch the night bus back to Bangkok on the same night. Staying dry was our preferable. Anyway, if you would like to go out with half-day snorkeling, the guide also appreciate to serve you. But we had selected to visit Moken village (Thai : หมู่บ้านมอแกน) which is located on South Surin Islands – Ao Bon.

Moken is the sea gypsy who live in Surin Islands for hundreds years. They are expert on boating, fishing and astronomy.  8 weeks before we arrived here, it had fire accident over the village cause to 80% of total habitats was bunrt out (for more information about this news : click here). But the village was quickly recovered by the support of Thai Navy. When we visited, the village was fully livable. 🙂

On 09.30am, after we had breakfast, we took longtail boat to Moken village what is only 15 minutes away.

At Moken village, it has about 80 simple straw houses. We can take 45 minutes to walk around to see sea gypsy life, visit the tiny museum to learn about history of Moken and buy some souvenir from the local children.

About 10.30am, we said goodbye to the Moken village and back to our tent to collect our stuffs. Then, we had lunch at main restaurant before catch speed boat back to the mainland on 14.30pm.

On 15.30pm, we arrived the pier what we departed since 2 days before. Sabina Tour had served us with cold drink when we arrive the pier. We had about 90 minutes to take a rest and prepare ourselves before go to bus terminal to catch bus back to Bangkok.  We can take shower at Sabina Tour’s office too. Sabina Tour’s staff was very kind and helpful. We can ask them anything if we have any query. about 17.00pm, they took us to bus terminal to catch our bus on 18.15pm. It was perfectly service !

3 days 2 nights at Surin islands, it was our truly amazing and wonderful trip. We had explored our sea water experience and taken a rest from chaotic city. We could say that we were fully charged and ready to fight with our life again. This trip would be imprinted in our heart forever…..Surin Islands 🙂
