Second day in Surin Islands : Capital of coral reef of Thailand

Second day in Surin Islands, after we arrived here since yesterday and took half-day snorkeling on afternoon (click here to see first day at Surin Islands). We woke up on 6.30am with the sound of peaceful wave from the beach in front of us. We took quick shower and prepared ourselves for “Full day snorkeling“. Frankly speaking, we wore yesterday shirt and short what still not completely dry yet due to we will wet again. 😛

We had breakfast on 7.30am as guide had appointed us since yesterday. It has 2 choices, American breakfast and chicken congee with coffee and hot chocolate. Then, guide had told us to meet at longtail boat station on 8.30am to go out our second water exploration day.

On 9.00am, we had reached our first snorkeling point, Suthep Bay (Thai : อ่าวสุเทพ). At this bay, it has 2 snorkeling points which has plenty of sea creatures. Suthep bay is one of the most famous point for snorkeler. Thai and Foreigner who visit Surin islands MUST do snorkeling here otherwise they cannot claim that they visit Surin islands.

Suthep bay is the one of perfect bay in Surin Island (or in Thailand) in term of diversity of underwater lives. We had seen Table coral, Antler Coral with cartoon fish, Anemone and swimming fishes. It was looked like we were swimming in big aquarium !

We spent almost 2 hours for 2 snorkeling points at Suthep Bay and finished around 11.30am. Then, we back to the main restaurant to have seafood buffet lunch to fulfill our energy before afternoon water workout.

On 13.30pm, we were ready to continue our adventure. This afternoon, we went to further point which took 20 minutes by longtail boat but really worth, Hin Pae (Thai : หินแพ). This point is located on south-eastern of main islands. It is small rock island which is the connection point of shallow water and deep sea water. At here, we could see rare underwater lives which is unable to see at another bay in main islands such as Moray eel, Feather starfish, pin-cushion sea star and fusilier fishes.

We took almost 2 hours to discover around Hin Pae area from west to east. Then, on 16.00pm, we back to our accommodation to take a shower and resting after we workout all days. Around 18.30pm, we had dinner at restaurant with seafood dishes before we back to our tent…Good night…Sleep tight. 🙂
