A week after Chinese New Year 2026, I took the vacation after the festival week to Beijing for 4 days. I decided to have my holidays after golden week in China to avoid crowded atmosphere and to get affordable air-ticket. Furthermore, at the end of February, the weather was still chill which is my beloved time for traveling.

For this trip, I did the research and find that Cathay Pacific had the most attractive airfare for about 325 USD (round-trip) with only less than 3 hours transit time in Hong Kong Airport. I had no hesitation to grab it ! šŸ˜€

I started my trip by arriving Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport at 5.15AM, about 2 hours and 40 minutes before flight time. Check-in counters for Cathay Pacific are at Row R and S. I took about 15 minutes to complete check-in and obtain the boarding passes. The checked in luggage could be checked through to Beijing. 🄰

Then, I passed the security checkpoint and immigration. Early morning flight after long holiday had not crowded. I completed them within 15 minutes. It meant I had about 2 hours before boarding. I used my credit card to relax in KPoint Klub Lounge. Today, I would board the aircraft at Gate – G5.

.

.

At 7.20AM, I walked to the gate for boarding. The Aircraft was waiting us already. The boarding was commenced on-time. The passengers were called to board the aircraft by group number.

For economy class, the seats were arranged as 2-4-2. The seat pitch is wide and comfortable. It has PTV every seat. In front seat pocket, safety instruction, ear speakers and magazine were provided.

.

.

.

.

.

As soon as boarding completed, the flight was pushed back and taken off on-time. When the flight was at cruising altitude and seatbelt sign was switched off, I started to observe the lavatory. It was well cleaned and equipped with hand cream and hand sanitizer.

.

.

.

Then, the cabin crews started to serve the breakfast. For economy class, it had 2 choices, omelet with chicken sausage and congee. It selected the first one to have with apple juice. After fulfill my stomach, I rested and napped for a while.

.

.

.

.

30 minutes before arrival time, the flight was descended. And, it was landed at Hong Kong International Airport smoothly. I could see my connecting flight details and gate at PTV before landing. šŸ›¬šŸ˜Š

After I got off from the aircraft, I was looking for “Transfer” sign to reach the connecting flight area. I had to pass the security checkpoint before go to boarding gate. the flight to Beijing would be boarding at Gate-45. I had about 90 minutes before boarding time to find some coffee to keep my eyes open. ā˜•ļøšŸ˜

At 1.30PM, I walked to the gate. The aircraft to Beijing was waiting already. The boarding was started on-time. The passengers were called to board by group number.

The seats for economy class were figured as 2-4-2. The seat pitch was same as our flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong as it used to same model of aircraft. It had PTV, magazine, ear speakers and safety instruction too.

.

.

The flight was pushed back and taken off on-time. Then, after seat-belt signed was turned off. The cabin crews had served the lunch. It had 2 choices for economy class, chicken with rice and stewed pork with potato. I chose the second one. All passengers had been served with HƤagen-Dazs ice-cream. šŸØ After lunch, I finished my meal with coffee.

.

.

.

.

.

I took a rest as the flying time to Beijing is about 3 hours. 😌 30 minutes before arrival time, the flight was descended and then landed at Beijing Capital Airport (PEK) safety.

.

.

.

Next, I disembarked the aircraft and walked to immigration checkpoint. For all passengers arriving in China, they MUST complete online arrival card prior reaching immigration check. It can be performed at arrival. But, I recommend to do it online 72 hours in advance to avoid the long queue. Herewith the link to submit online arrival card.

https://s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPC/entry-registation-home
(After completion, it had summary page with QR code. We can capture this QR code in the phone for reference in case of airlines or immigration officer asking for it)

.

.

.

After completed immigration clearance, I took the shuttle train to the main terminal. Today, the checked-in baggage could be reclaimed at the belt number 36

.

.

Now, It meant I have completely arrived in Beijing already. To get in the city, I used Subway – Beijing Capital AirPort Express Line. It took about 30 minutes to reach city center which is super convenient to connect with Beijing subway network. The cost was only 25 CNY/person (about 4 USD). The payment was also very easy. Just download AliPay App and connect with credit card or debit card. Then, select city as “Beijing” and tab at “Transport” to generate QR code to scan and access the train. šŸ˜€

.

.

.

Once I arrived the hotel, it was about 7.30PM. I spent the first night to find something for dinner nearby the hotel and took a rest to recharge my energy for exploration the capital of China on the next day.

Today, in overall, Cathay Pacific had offered me the world-class service as it is 5-stars airlines. The flights were comfortable and arrive on-time. The cabin crews had service minded and friendly. The meals were tasty. 🤤 So, If you are looking for world-class service airline with affordable fare from Bangkok to Beijing (transit at Hong Kong), Cathay Pacific should be in the top list. Wish you have a wonderful stay in Beijing. šŸ‡ØšŸ‡³
