I have plan to have my annual vacation at Auckland (New Zealand) during August 2024. However, it had no direct flight from Bangkok to Auckland, or even another city in New Zealand. After I did the research, the most convenient way to get my destination is to transit the flight at Hong Kong by Cathay Pacific. By this, I select the early morning flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong before catching the night flight from Hong Kong to Auckland. This would give me a one free day to explore Pearl of the Orient for 9 hours. Furthermore, the airfare was extremely freindly to my wallet’s health. Hence, I did not hesitate to grab this opportunity.
Herewith the flight detail for this route.
Route : Bangkok_Suvarnabhumi (BKK) – Hong Kong (HKG)
Carrier : Cathay Pacific
Flight No. : CX700
ETD : 8.10 AM (GMT+7)
ETA : 12.10 PM (GMT+8)
Duration : 3 hours
Aircraft : Airbus A330
Cabin Class : ECONOMY

.
The trip was started when I arrived Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi) airport at 5.15AM, about 3 hours before departure time. Cathay Pacific has check-in counter at Row S.
I took about 15 minutes to complete the check-in process, check-through my baggage to Auckland and get the boarding pass.

.

.

.

.
Then, I passed through the security checkpoint and immigration. Today, the boarding will be performed at Gate – G2. I had plenty of time to relax in K-point Klub Lounge before boarding.

.

.

.

.
About 7.30AM, I went to the boarding gate. The aircraft was waiting and ready for cruising to Hong Kong.

.

.

.

.
Few minutes after I arrived at the gate, the boarding was commenced. The economy class seat was arranged as 3-3-3. Luckily, I got the front seat with extra leg room for this flight. However, as I could see another economy seat, the seat pitch is above average width which is looked comfortable for long haul or extra long haul flight too. 😀

.

.

.
In front seat pocket, it has magazine, flight safety instruction card and earphones. PTV is available for all seats.

.

.

.
After the loading was completed, the flight was pushed back and taken off on-time. Then, when the flight was at cruising speed and seatbelt sign had been switched off. I started to survey the lavatory. It was well cleaned and equipped with hand soap and hand cream.

.

.

.
Then, the cabin crews started to serve hot meal to passengers. It had 2 choices for economy class. I selected omelette with chicken sausage and baked bean (Sorry I could not remember what another choice is 😅). It was served with soft and hot drink. I chose hot tea.

.
About 30 minutes before scheduled arrival time, the flight was descended. It was landed at Hong Kong International airport 15 minutes prior scheduled.

.
Once I disembarked the aircraft, I directed to the immigration by following the signs. The immigration queue was very long as it was weekend. I spent almost an hour to complete the process.
Note : All passengers must complete arrival card and give it to immigration officer with the passport (and visa if needed). The arrival card can be received from cabin crew or getting it at immigration area before queuing the line.

.

.
After passing the immigration, checked-in baggage could be retrieve at the belt number 16. Now, It means WE ARE COMPLETELY ARRIVED IN HONG KONG ! 🇭🇰

.
I had checked through my baggage to Auckland already and had 9 hours in Hong Kong. It means I could hop freely for my one free day in Hong Kong. To get in the city center, I selected the fastest way, Airport Express Train. It is easy to find the train as it has the signs all along the way. I chose the ticket to Hong Kong Station, the central station to connect with various modes of public transportation. The ticket for return trips within one day was 115 HKD/person (about 15 USD). It took about 30 minutes only.

.

.

.

.

.
Around 1.30PM, I arrived Hong Kong Station. I had time about 5 hours to explore the highlight of Hong Kong before backing to the airport and catching the next flight. In overall, Cathay Pacific did super good flight and service which is suitable for 5-Star airline. The cabin was clean and equipped with everything for full service airline. The staffs had great service mind. The flight punctuality was better than expected. Above of all, the airfare was friendly for economy traveller. Thus, in my thought, Cathay Pacific is one of the top choice for traveling between Bangkok and Hong Kong for sure. Finally, everything in this review is from my own opinion. I apologize if it has any mistaking. Eventually, I hope you had pleasant flight and wonderful stay in Hong Kong.
