[Review] Air India / AI333 : Bangkok (BKK) – Delhi

This trip, we had the trip to Leh/Ladakh. As It had no direct flight from Bangkok, we had to catch the flight to the major city of India prior connecting the domestic flight to The Little Tibetan Land. We did monitor the airfare and flight route about 3 – 4 months in advance and find that the most attractive flights and cost were Air India, the flag carrier of Bharat. The first flight was the flying to the capital of India, New Delhi. Then, we stayed there for a night and connect to Leh/Ladakh by morning flight in the next day. Herewith the flight details and review for the flight between capital city of two nations, Bangkok to Delhi.

.

Route : Bangkok (BKK) – Delhi (DEL)
Carrier : Air India
Flight No. : AI333
ETD : 8.55 AM (GMT+7)
ETA : 12.00 PM (GMT+5.5)
Duration : 4 hours and 35 minutes
Aircraft : Airbus A320
Cabin Class : ECONOMY

.

The trip was started when we arrived Bangkok – Suvarnabhumi Airport at 6AM, about 3 hours before flight time. Air India had check-in counter at Row-T. We did the internet check-in in advance, but the boarding pass could not be printed as the ground staff needed to check our VISA. Unfortunately, even the internet check-in was performed, but it had no specific counter (Baggage Drop Counter). 😂 All passengers had to be queued in the same line, useless internet check-in.

.

.

.

We spent 30 minutes to complete the check-in and baggage drop-off processes. Then, we immediately passed the security and immigration. We had about an hour before boarding time. Today, we were boarding at Gate-E6. As we are the customer of Kasikorn Bank Credit Card, we could redeem our point to use K-Point Klub to have preserved seats in the lounge and enjoy snack and drink during waiting.

.

.

.

At boarding time, we were at the gate without delayed. The flight to India had strictly inspection, the carry-on baggage had been searched by the airline’s staff before entry the gate. And, the passenger could not wait near to boarding gate.

Once we were at the waiting area of the boarding gate, our Airbus A320 were there already.

.

.

The boarding was commenced on-time. This aircraft had 2 classes, Business class with 2-2 arrangement and Economy with 3-3 configuration which are the general platform of single aisle equipment.

.

.

.

The seat pitch was average. It quite fit to my body (my height is 183 cm). Over the course of a 4-hour flight, this seat size did introduce a touch of fatigue. 🥲 It just had magazine and safety instruction sheet. No In-flight entertainment like PTV or another comfortable kit.

.

.

Once the boarding completed, the flight was pushed back and taken-off on-time. As soon as it was airborne altitude, I started to explore the lavatory. It was well clean with essential things.

.

.

Next, the cabin crews had served the hot meal. For flights to/from India with Economy class, as long as I had observed, it always had 2 choices, Vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian. For this flight, Non-veg was omelet with chicken sausage while Veg was rice with red curry. We decided to get Non-veg without hesitation. 😝 All meals served with Yoghurt, Croissant with butter and a bottle of water.

.

After meal, the soft drink, hot tea and coffee were served. I ordered the hot tea to sip with the sky view of Indian Ocean.

.

.

About 45 minutes before arrival time, our flight was depending to approach Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport – Terminal 3.

.

.

As soon as we disembarked the aircraft, we walked by following the arrival and immigration signs. For Thai Passport Holder and many of countries, E-VISA must be obtained prior departure. We had applied and gotten E-VISA trought https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html already. The printed E-VISA must be presented at check-in counter at departure and immigration officer upon arrival.

.

.

After passing the immigration with our E-VISA, we could reclaim our checked-in luggage at belt number 14.

.

It was about 1PM, we exchanged the money to get India Rupee and used AIRPORT EXPRESS TRAIN to get in the city center. To reach AirPort Express Station just follow the sign at arrival hall. The AirPort Express train ticket could be purchased by cash at ticketing counter. The cost to New Delhi Railway station (Terminal Station) was 60 INR/trip (about 1 USD). It took about 30 minutes from Terminal-3.

We booked the hotel near to New Delhi Railway Station for a night resting before catch next morning flight to Leh/Ladakh. Frankly speaking, the location near to Railway Station was crowded and noisy as it is the central railways station of capital from India, one of the most population city in the world. But the hotel cost was affordable and easy to hop around the city by metro system. If we visit New Delhi again, we will find the hotel in another area which we think it would be better and more peaceful.

We reached the hotel about 3 PM as walking from Railways Station to the hotel was mazed. We had to cross many overpasses and pass many security checkpoints (everywhere in India had X-ray and security checkpoint for safety reasons). After check-in to the hotel, we spent our late afternoon time to explore Connaught Place to find something to eat and explore the heart of New Delhi with short time. Then, we returned to the hotel to have a rest before catching early morning flight to our destination of this trip, Leh/Ladakh. In overall, Air India flight from Bangkok to Delhi was served with single aisle aircraft what was quite narrow for us with 4 hours flight. But we understand that this .aircraft type could bring the attractive airfare. However, the full service style brought us the satisfaction for this trip. We would recommend Air India for connecting between Thailand and India if you are seeking for affordable airfare. We do hope you have a wonderful stay in India. 🇮🇳
