This trip was happened as I had long holiday during the end of July 2023. I decided to have a short trip to Yangon, Myanmar to fulfill my wish from years ago. Indeed, I have been to Yangon several times, but all were business trips. I gave the word to myself that I would visit here one day for my own luisure. Finally, my days were comming. I did book air tickets for this trip almost 3 months in advance. The most attractive flights were operated by Myanmar Airways International (MAI), the flag carrier of Myanmar. They offered reasonable cost, flight schedule and it is full-service airlines. It made me have no hesitation to jump-in for this offer. 🙂
This is the flight details.
Flight No. : 8M 336 – Myanmar Airways International
Route : BANGKOK (BKK) – YANGON (RGN)

Arrival Time : 11.30 AM (GMT +6.5)

.
On the travelling date, my trip was started by I did arrive the Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport on 8AM. The check-in row for Myanmar Airways Int’l was at Row-N. Indeed, I did try to do internet check-in but it did not allow me to perform. I guessed that due to document verification (e.g. travel insurance, COVID vaccination certificate or visa) was needed, the check-in was available at the airport counter only. As mentionned, I travelled during long holidays, plenty of passenger in queue. I took about 20 minutes to complete the check-in process.

.

.

.
Then, once I got boarding pass in hands, I passed through the immigration and security check. Today, we would be boarding at the Gate-F2.

.

.

.
I had about an hour to stroll around the airside to find something to fulfill my stomach. 🙂 Because I believed that this flight was only short haul, they would serve only lite-meal or snack. It was to be safe to have something before boarding.

.

.

.

.
About 10AM, the boarding time, I reached the gate. The passengers were waiting for boarding and the aircraft was waiting us at the aerobridge already.

.

.

.
The boading time was started at 10.15AM. The aircarft had 2 classes, Business and Economy. For Business class, the seats were arranged as 2-2. While configuration of Economy class was 3-3 as same as other single aisle aircraft.

.

.

.

.
The seat pitch was acceptable. My height is 183 cm, it felt like the seat was exactly fit to me. 😛 It had in-flight magazine and duty-free product catalogue as well as safety instruction sheet. No PTV for this aircraft.

.

.

.
Once the loading was completed, the flight was pushed back and taken-off on-time. Once the flight was in cruising speed, I started to survey the lavatory at first. It was well cleaned and liquid soap was available.

.

.
Then, the snack box was quickly served by the cabin crew as it was only an hour flight time. It was as I thought, the meal was just snack. I was right to have something before flying. 🙂 Inside the snack box, it had cheese pie and brownie with drinking water. And, the soft drinks were served after snack. I ordered the hot tea to sip along the way.

.

.

.
Just for a while, the flight was started to descend and laned at Yangon International Airport safely.

.

.

.
After disembarkment, I just followed the direction to pass health control checkpoint and immigration. Then, the baggage could be retrieved at the Belt No. 1.

.
Now, it meant I have arrived Myanmar completely. In overall, Myanmar Airway Int’l is the one of the best choice to travel between Thailand and Myanmar as the ticket cost is reasonable with full service offer. After I checked-in at the hotel in the afternoon and got refreshed, I eagerly started my 3 days 2 nights trip to explore Yangon according to my plan.
From the airport, I could get in the city by taxi. The most convenient way is to use GRAB application. Because the cost is fixed, no need to negotiate with the driver and skip the language barrier. The payment can be made by cash or credit card (but I used cash because many of my credit cards were not usable in Myanmar). Furthermore, GRAB was easily used during hopping inside the city too. Enjoy your wonderful stay in Myanmar…The land of thousands pagodas. 🙂

Note (Updated on July 2023)
- Data roaming is prohibited during visting Myanmar due to government policy (Only international phone call and SMS allowed). If you want to use data in your phone, you have to buy Myanmar simcard only. It is available at the arrival hall of Yangon Airport. The cost is about 35,000 MMK (17 USD). It comes with 50GB data and 100 minutes call in Myanmar, validity is 30 days.
- For currency exchange, all of money changer booths accept to buy USD or EUR or other foreign currency from you and give you Myanmat Kyat (MMK). BUT, IF YOU HAVE REMAINING MMK AND WANT TO SELL BACK TO GET USD OR FOREIGN CURRENCY, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ALLOW TO SELL FOREIGN MONEY TO THE FOREIGNER. Hence, you must plan your cash using carefully and exchange just for that.
