How to get Koh Kood?
To get Koh Kood, we have to take the ferry from Laem Sok Pier, Trat Province. It is only one pier what has the boat to connect to Koh Kood. This pier is located 350 km away from Bangkok. For the ferry, it has 3 – 4 companies running the service. The operation schedule is from 10AM until 4PM. You can see the timetable by this link : https://ferryadvice.com/en/island-timetable/koh-kood. he ticket cost is 350 – 600 THB/person/trip (10 – 18 USD), depended on the type of the boat (Normal ferry : 90 minutes journey, High-speed catamaran : 60 minutes journey).
By the way, traveling from Bangkok to Laem Sok Pier has plenty of choices as follows:
- By minibus from Ekkamai bus terminal. Traveling time is 6 hours. It has one good service company, Koh Chang Bangkok Transport. It has only a trip per day. Outbound : Departed from Bangkok on 5AM. Inbound : Departed from Laem Sok Pier on 11.30AM. You must book the ferry ticket to follow this minibus schedules. The ticket cost is about 400 THB/person/trip (12 USD) ***The ticket can be purchased 30 days in advance by online. But the website has only Thai language. However, you can buy tickets on the outbound traveling date for round-trip at bus terminal about 1 hour before departure time***
- By Airplane. Bangkok Airways operates the flight from Suvarnbhumi Airport to Trat Airport daily, traveling time is only an hour. Then, you can hail the taxi from Trat airport to Laem Sok Pier. But the airfare is high as it has only one player for this route.
- By car. You can rent the car and drive to Laem Sok Pier. It is usually taking 5 hours. We recommend to leave Bangkok before 5.30AM in order to catch the ferry before noon.***For us, we chose this way as it is the most convenient***
Note: All ferry companies offer free shuttle service from Koh Kood Pier (Ao Salad Pier) to hotel. And, of course from hotel to the pier on your return date.

Where to stay?
For our trip, we stayed at Escape Life Koh Kood. This hotel is not on the beach, but it is only 2 minutes walk to Ao Pro beach. We chose here because it is chic and boutique hotel near to the mangrove forest and canal. The atmosphere is peaceful and it makes us feel we are escaping from the turbulence life. Its name says it all !

.
Anyway, it has plenty of hotels in the island at various location and beach. You can select as you wish ! π
.
How about each location in Koh Kood?
Let me tell you the each location we visited during our 3 days 2 nights there.
It is the largest and the most famous waterfall in this island. It is located in the western part of Koh Kood. The waterfall has the water throughout the year. When we think of Koh Kood, Klong Chao Waterfall is the fish thing to pop-up in our mind. Admission to this waterfall is free-of-charge. But it has donation box in front of the entrance, we can give as we wish. To get this waterfall, just parking our motorbike at the entrance and walk about 400 meters. We can swim or jump to soak ourselves in the pond at the bottom part. BUT the water is deep, swimming and jumping must BE CAREFUL. Life-jacket is recommended to wear while enjoying the water fall.

Kayaking / Paddle-Boarding at Koh Kood
In recent years, this activity is the signature of Koh Kood. If your hotel is next to the beach or the canal, they usually offer you the free kayak and paddle-board. Fortunately, our hotel (Escape life Koh Kood) is just a step to the canal, they give us free kayak (and equipment) with unlimited time and anytime we want. Kayaking from our hotel to the beach (Ao Pro Beach) is just 200 meters. We can enjoy the mangrove forest and local people life along the way.It is “A MUST” activity what you have to try once when you visit this paradise island. π£π»ββοΈπ£π»ββοΈπ£π»

Hopping to the beaches in the island
Koh Kood has many beaches around the island to enjoy, especially on the west coast. As we rented the motorbike since the day we arrived here, the two-wheel vehicle is our best friend to hopping around the island. In my opinion, it has 3 beaches what you cannot miss i.e. Klong Chao Beach, Bang Bao Beach and Ao Prao Beach. All beaches have transparent like mirror sea water, white & fine sand and peaceful atmosphere. If they are not call “Heaven Beach“, I have no another word to describe. And, one more thing, the sunlight is extremely strong, sunscreen cream is recommended throughout beach hopping trip. ππΆοΈ
Furthermore, while you are hopping for the beach, it has many interesting bar and cafΓ© along the Main Street and the beach. You can stop by whenever you wish (or when you feel thirsty). π₯€

Ao Prao Beach

Other than Klong Chao Waterfall, it has another wonderful waterfall where is located in the central of the island. It has 2 levels with total height of 40 meters. To get here, it is much more adventure than Kolong Chao Waterfall, because, we have to ride our two-wheel motorbike through the rural area around 2 kilometers. The strong riding skill of motorbike is required. However, it is worth to see for sure. I can bet with my neck. π€

The rural way to Huang Nam Keaw Waterfall π΅
.
It is a small waterfall in the north of the island. It can be reached by motorbike. But, we have to walk from the parking area for 200 meters with steep stairway. Even it is just small waterfall, but it is very charming and it has many corners for chic photo snapping. πΈ

Enjoy the evening/night moment at the beach bar
Koh kood has several beach bar and restaurant to enjoy the sunset and chilling night on the west coast. Many bars and restaurants offers us both local seafood dishes and western style foods as well as many kinds of drink. Viewing the peaceful beach and listening the sound of the sea wave with favorite meal and drink are the unforgettable moment. For us, we selected The deck bar @ Koh Kood Resort as it has good location to relax and plenty of choice of food and drink. βοΈ

.
These are just the part of all activities in Koh Kood. It still has a lot of things you can do and explore in this paradise islanYd. You can organize your trip as per your convenient and favorite activities. Hope you will be enjoyed and relaxed with unforgettable moments in Koh Kood……ποΈ
